Template Quick Start Installation Guide

IMPORTANT READ ME FIRST BEFORE USING THIS QUICK START PACKAGE

  1. The quick start package is ONLY TO BE USED FOR NEW JOOMLA & VIRTUEMART WEBSITE INSTALLATIONS.

  2. We DO NOT offer support for web hosting, Joomla or Virtuemart we only offer support for the Virtuemart template you have downloaded from the website

  3. The quick start package will install a defaut installation of Joomla & Virtuemart plus the Virtuemart template to give you an exact copy of the demo site on your website which you can see at http://demo.virtuemarttemplates.net

  4.  AFTER YOU HAVE INSTALLED THE QUICKSTART PACKAGE YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR UPDATING JOOMLA & VIRTUEMART

Step 1 - Create A New MYSQL Database & MYSQL User Name On Your Web Hosting Space

Before using this quick start package you need to create a new MYSQL database on your web hosting space.

You also need to create a new MYSQL user name and password on your web hosting space and assign permissions to the user for the new MYSQL database you have created

The new MYSQL database and MYSQL user you have created will be used during the quick start install so please make a note of the database name, user name and password you have setup.

To Create A MYSQL Database & MYSQL User Complete The Following Steps

  1. Login into your web hosting control panel

  2. Once you have logged into your web hosting control panel select the MYSQL Databases option

   3.    In order to create a new database you need to enter the desired name for the database in the New Database field and click on the Create Database button as shown below

4.    A confirmation screen will be displayed, informing that the database has been successfully created

5.    Once you have created the new database you can click on the Go Back button to return to the database management screen

6.    You now need to create a new MYSQL user and assign the user to the new MYSQL database you have created

7.    To create a user you just need to fill in the desired user name and password as shown in the image below and select the Submit button to create the new user

8.    Once the database and the username are created, you can add privileges for the user to the database. In order to do so you should select them both from the corresponding drop-down menus under Add User To Database label and click on the Submit button 

9.    You will be redirected to a screen where you will be prompted to choose the desired privileges. You need to select the All Privileges and click on the Make Changes button

 

Step 2 - Upload the .jpa Backup File To Your Web Host

Once you have created the new MYSQL database and user name  you need to upload the .jpa file included in the quick start files directory included inside this quick start package

The .jpa file will install a new default installation of Joomla plus the Joomla template you have downloaded at the web site. After you have installed the .jpa file you will have an exact copy of the template running at the http://demo.virtuemarttemplates.net site.  

To upload the .jpa file to your web hosting space complete the following 

  1. Open your FTP software installed on your computer

  2. Select the jpa file included in the quick start files directory included with this quick start package

  3. If you want to install the website in the root directory upload the .jpa file to the public_html directory

  4. If you want to install the website in a sub directory upload the .jpa file to a sub directory on your web hosting space 

  5. The .jpa file will extract all the files and data to the directory you upload it to. If you upload the .jpa file to a sub directory it will extract all the files to the sub directory. If you upload the .jpa file to the root public_html directory it will extract the files to the public_html directory.

Step 3 - Upload The kick Start Files To Your Web Hosting Space

After you have uploaded the .jpa file to the directory on your web hosting space you now need to upload the all the files included in the /quickstart files/kickstart/ directory  

included inside this quick start package to the same place you have uploaded the .jpa file to.

DO NOT upload the kick start directory. Upload the ALL THE FILES included INSIDE the kick start directory to the same place you have uploaded the .jpa file to. 

 

Step 4 -  Install The Website

Once you have created the new MYSQL database and user account plus uploaded the .jpa file and kick start files to your web hosting space you can now install the website.

To install the website complete the following steps

1.    Open your browser and enter your website domain plus a forward slash / after the domain name followed by the name kickstart.php

2.    Example will look like this http://www.yourwebsitedomain.com/kickstart.php if you have uploaded the jpa file plus kick start files to your public_html or home directory

3.    Example will look like this http://www.yourwebsitedomain.com/subdirectory/kickstart.php if you have uploaded the jpa file plus kick start files to a sub directory on your web hosting space 

4.    After you have entered your domain name followed by the kickstart.php file you will now see the following

5.   Select the jpa file you have uploaded to your website from the archive file drop down list

5.    Select the Start Button to go to the next step

6.    You will now see the following

7.    Once the files are extracted from the JPA file select the GREEN RUN THE INSTALLER button and you will see the following

 

8.    You will now see the following screen. Select the BLUE NEXT BUTTON

9.    You will now see the following screen. Enter the information in the fields for the MYSQL database & user name you have created. Select the BLUE NEXT BUTTON

10.    you will now see the following to confirm the MYSQL data has been copied to your MYSQL database from the quickstart package. Select the GREEN NEXT STEP BUTTON

11. you will now see the following screen. Enter the information into the fields about your web site and select the BLUE NEXT BUTTON

 

12. You will now see the following screen. Select the RED REMOVE THE INSTALLATION DIRECTORY BUTTON

 

 

13.    After you have clicked on the remove the installation directory you will see the following. Select the GREEN VISIT YOUR SITES FRONT END BUTTON

 

 

Step 5 - Remove The Jpa File and Kick Start Files

Once you have installed the website you now need to remove the .jpa file and ALL the kick start files you have uploaded to your web hosting space.

  1. Open your FTP software on your computer

  2. Now remove the .jpa file and ALL the kick start ini files plus the kickstart.php file 

 

Step 6 - Log Into The Joomla Website

  1. Open your browser and enter your website domain following by /administrator where you have installed the website

  2. The Joomla super administrator user name is admin and the password for the account is password 

  3. Once you have logged into the site please make sure you change the user name and password

  4. You have now completed the setup of the website and you have now got an exact copy of the demo site running at http://demo.virtuemarttemplates.net template demo site.
